Successful Transition Education Program

STEP was implemented to assist pretrial defendants and their families with the transition from community supervision to a term of imprisonment.  U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services for the Western District of Pennsylvania will host periodic informational sessions at the federal courthouse in Pittsburgh.  STEP is voluntary and provides an opportunity to have your questions answered.   It is intended to provide information for the best possible outcome throughout a custodial sentence, the earliest possible release, and the best opportunities for success upon commencing supervised release.  We hope that this program will provide factual information, dispel myths, and answer questions to help reduce the fear, stress, and anxiety associated with the judicial process, sentencing, and potential incarceration experienced by defendants and their families.

Should you have any questions about the STEP Program, or are interested in attending the next STEP session, please email STEPinfo@pawp.uscourts.gov.
