Information: Bethlehem Haven is an organization providing a number of services including emergency shelter; transitional housing; medical, dental, obstetrics and mental health services; as well as employment services to women in the Pittsburgh area. The Step-Up program houses up to 20 women at a time for a maximum of two years. Some of the specific components of the program include the following: More independent living, Cooking dinner for the community every day of the week, Attending Drug and Alcohol meetings seven times a week, Attending Life Skills classes once a week for 14 weeks, Attending women's empowerment meetings once a week at the Haven with assistance from the YWCA, Attending treat-ment team meetings once a month with Haven staff, Review of goal plans every 30 days and progress notes weekly, Ful-filling a requirement to work, go to school or volunteer within 90 days of entering the program. Miryam�s is a program for homeless women and those at risk for homelessness. The Day Program offers homeless women an opportunity for safety and hospitality by supplying meals, case management, needs assessment, quality of life programming, referrals, comprehensive medical and psychiatric assessment, and social activities. The program is open 365 days a year from 10 a.m. � 6 p.m. Offers 30 beds to homeless women with mental health disability. The transitional supportive housing program provides comprehensive case management, life skill classes, financial education, and referrals. Residents are encouraged to pursue personal and professional development. Outreach programs include medical and mental health advocacy, career life planning, adult learning, therapeutic activities and peer support. The program consists of two tracks, a Life Skills program for individuals not yet ready or able to work, and a Professional De-velopment program for individuals whose goal is permanent employment. The 14-week Life Skills course consists of weekly 1 � hour classes including topics such as: health and wellness, conflict resolution, stress and time management, and budgeting. The 14-week Professional Development course is much more intense consisting of: two hour classes three days a week, an 8-week internship, and individual weekly counseling sessions with the PE occupational therapists and/or employment specialists. Topics addressed in the Professional Development course include: career and self exploration, resume writing, interviewing, professional communications, and networking.
